The Montachusett All-Stars brings together players from the Lunenburg and Fitchburg youth baseball programs to compete in the Cal Ripken World Series track. This select program is designed to create more opportunities for players to compete at the appropriate age level while forming competitive teams across multiple divisions.

Teams begin play in late June with regional tournaments and have the opportunity to advance through state and New England regional competition. Tryouts are required, and the top players at each age level will be selected to represent the program.

Players ages 7–12 are eligible to try out for the Montachusett All-Star baseball teams. Teams are planned at the 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U levels.

All players must play at their age-appropriate level based on the official Cal Ripken age chart, with May 1 serving as the cutoff date.

Age Divisions (2026 Season)

• 8U: May 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018
• 9U: May 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017
• 10U: May 1, 2015 – April 30, 2016
• 11U: May 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015
• 12U: May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014

Each team will have 4 coaches total:

• 2 coaches from Lunenburg
• 2 coaches from Fitchburg

Teams will roster up to 12 players and 3 reserve players.

Selection is based on player performance during tryouts, and the top players in each age group will be chosen regardless of town.

Players cannot be on more than 1 team and must play on their age-appropriate team regardless of skill or grade.

The All-Star season begins with tryouts in April. Tournament play starts in late June with local regional tournaments.

Teams that advance will continue to:

• State Tournaments in July
• New England Regional Tournaments (for state winners)

It is important that families review all potential tournament dates and ensure full availability, as teams have advanced to later rounds in past seasons.

Tryouts and practices will primarily take place at local fields in Lunenburg and Fitchburg.

Tournament locations will vary depending on advancement and may require regional travel.

Tryouts are open to all eligible players and are required for selection.

• Friday, April 24 – Powell Field (Marshall Park, Lunenburg)
• 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: 11U
• 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM: 12U

Tryout dates for 8U, 9U, and 10U teams will be announced soon, and notifications will be sent once scheduled.

Players must be registered in advance at lunenburgybs.com. Participation in prior years does not guarantee a roster spot this season.

Players should arrive at tryouts ready for a full practice session.

Once teams are selected, practice schedules will be determined by each coaching staff.

Teams should expect multiple practices per week leading up to tournament play.

The All-Star program follows a tournament format rather than a traditional season schedule.

• Playing time is not guaranteed
• This is a competitive All-Star format where playing time is earned
• Each rostered player will receive a minimum of two innings in the field per game
• Reserve players may be selected and can participate at a reduced cost, but are not guaranteed placement in game-day lineups 

Uniform details will be provided after team selection.

Players should expect that standard team uniforms will be required. Additional details on ordering and distribution will be communicated once teams are finalized.

There are additional costs beyond registration for players selected to an All-Star team.
