SPRING BASEBALL
ROOKIES DIVISION - 8U
Designed for boys & girls aged 7-8, this division uses coaches in the first half of the season to pitch allowing for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Emphasis is on starting to learn the game and rules of baseball. All positions will begin to be developed at this level including pitching and catching. The focus of Rookie League is to prepare each player to move on to the Minor Leagues. Teams will play against other teams that are part of the MAC league.
2026 ROOKIES SEASON OVERVIEW
SCHEDULE
Weather permitting, practices will start around April 1.
Teams will practice two days per week until games start.
Once games start, teams will practice once per week.
Practice days and times are set by the head coach and may change during the season.
GAMES & LOCATION
There are 16 regular season games with 2 games per week.
Home games are played at Fitzgerald Field on Reservoir Road.
Away games may require travel of up to 30 minutes.
Games begin Monday, April 27.
Weekday games start at 5:45 PM.
Weekend game times are either at 3pm or 6pm.
The season will end on June 21st.
Players arrive 30 minutes before games and 15 minutes before practices.
These games are competitive, and winners and losers are declared at each game. However, there are no records, and no playoffs at this level.
At the halfway point of the season, it will swap from coach pitch to kid pitch.
TEAMS
Teams are formed by the league and balanced by age.
Special requests for teammates or coaches are accepted but not guaranteed.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
Players should be 7 or 8 years old and must be of age by the cutoff date of May 1st.

MINORS DIVISION - 10U
Recommended for boys and girls aged 9-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. This is the first level that’s kids will pitch the entire season to other kids.

Players arrive 1 hour before games and 15 minutes before practices.
PLAYOFFS
A two-week playoff tournament will follow the regular season and end June 19.

MAJORS DIVISION - 12U
The major league division is designed for 11 to 12-year-old boys and girls. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group.
